Wolf's Wisdom: Chasing your tail

Ever feel you’re constantly chasing your tail, both in work and life? You’re not alone!

I was being pulled along by our German Shepherd x on his afternoon walk.

It was a particularly bad walk, as well as the constant pulling, he was constantly trying to chase and “catch” cars.

It had been raining yet again, my trainers were starting to get wet through as I felt the start of the unmistakable squelch, making me grumpy.

I had him on a short lead now, but he was still constantly pulling, trying to get to somewhere quickly, as we continued on our walk. I was almost at the pace of a power walk, when I realised, he has not been like this throughout a whole walk before.

I had pretty much been pulled the whole way round, chasing his tail! “I’ve had enough, this walk can’t go on much longer” I thought to myself, as I was telling him “no!” when he was eyeing up yet another car.

It’s a bit like when you are chasing your tail at work, feeling like you are constantly being pulled from one task unrelated to the next. You also feel like you’re also having to constantly keep an eye on everything so you don’t drop the ball for it to end in disaster. This can lead you to feeling exhausted every day and that you aren’t processing with anything with the constant fire fighting and waking up more tired than when you went to bed.

What if I told you there was another way… Having someone to take on the tasks you feel are depleting your energy, allowing you space to breathe, recharge and complete tasks that you enjoy and feeling a sense of fulfilment.
